Bella Hadid, a Palestinian-Dutch supermodel, has been outspoken about the ongoing geopolitical conflict between Israel and Palestine, to the point of being obnoxious.
And, even after many calling her previous social media posts “misinformed,” she shared a crying selfie on Saturday morning, saying she felt a “deep sense of pain” for the people of Palestine as she continued to take sides.
Only a few days ago, the 24-year-old daughter of Palestinian real estate developer Mohamed Hadid was chastised for sharing a graphic claiming that Israel was not a nation, for which she was criticized for antisemitism.
As she continued talking about the situation, Bella posted a close-up shot of her face with tears running down her face.
‘Today, and every day, I am filled with sorrow for Palestine and my Palestinian brothers and sisters.’ These videos physically shatter my heart into a thousand pieces.
‘You cannot allow yourself to become desensitized to the taking of human life.’ You’re not going to be able to do it. The lives of Palestinians are the lives that will change the world. And they’re being snatched away from us every second. ‘Free Palestine’ is a hashtag that has been trending on social media.
Bella was in hot water a few days ago after she shared a graphic with anti-semitic rhetoric, with the multi-slide post claiming that Israel was not a nation but rather a colonized land.
Her post about the nation-state, which was founded in 1948, was said to have exacerbated the already tense situation and contributed to global antisemitism. Bella has 41.7 million Instagram followers, which is three times the global Jewish population.
Refinery29, Diet Prada, and various celebrities, including Tracee Ellis Ross, re-posted it on Instagram.
